In the Full of Crap Report this week, Laurence Simon says contrary to certain rumours, he is not responsible for the death of Jesus, he didn’t do it, nobody saw him do it, and you can’t prove a thing!
And Meryl Yourish, in “On Second Thought” quotes words of the Passover Haggadah that have a modern sting.
Canadian blogger Damian Penny is along with some thoughts on popular culture in movies, and how Hollywood is failing us all.
The feature interview this week is with Frank Highland, one of the Right Brothers, who are using the internet to market conservative protest music. You heard me, conservative protest music. Now all we need is our own Joan Baez (as she was in 1968 please) and we’ve got a movement on our hands.
In Blog News, Mark Steyn! On Iran! You go, read now! NOW!
South Park censorship shock! Did Parker and Stone name the President of Comedy Central in this week’s show? Were they actually arguing with him not to censor the image of Mohammed through their cartoon characters? Tracy Twyman says yes. Michelle Malkin hosts new logos for Comedy Central, and not in a good way. At least they didn’t hide behind weasel words like “respect” or “sensitivity”, instead coming out and admitting it’s simple fear of Muslims. Isn’t the technical term for that “Islamophobia”? I wonder what CAIR will say?
Latest Jews-control-the-world conspiracy theory is in at Gates of Vienna. This week Hamas claims we secretly control all Christian churches in America. What can I say? Damn we’re good!
Moderate Muslim watch – are we looking for the wrong thing altogether? Mark Steyn argues pretty convincingly that a moderate Muslim is, by definition, an ex-Muslim. Of course, that argument works just as well for other religions. Just look at the Bishop of Durham from 1984–94, David Jenkins, who might have provided the original for “Peter Simple’s” Dr Spacely-Trellis, the go-ahead Bishop of Bevindon in the Stretchford Conurbation, if only he hadn’t preceeded him by many years, and been a work of fiction.
Australian police have managed to arrest several people for involvment in terrorist activities thanks to infiltrating an undercover officer into a radical Muslim group. Yay! But“experts” are “concerned” about “entrapment”, because they can’t seem to use their “brains” to comprehend “reality”. Boo! Tim Blair’s blog contains a variety of statements by one of the defendants which might tend to cast doubt on the defence case. I particularly enjoyed the part where he said Australia had been given to the Muslims by Allah to rule.
The latest cutting-edge cultural happening in the world of what we call here in Australia the Yartz is the tremendously exciting cross-cultural happening “Opera Meets Q’uran” in Sydney next weekend. Darlings, you simply must come, simply everyone is going to be there, it’s going to be so exciting and daring, I’m sure that dreadful Howard individual wants to close it down and arrest anyone who attends, it really is a dark night of fascist opression. And who is putting on this daring event? An Islamic missionary organisation. Does Dior do burqas darling? A commenter on Tim Blair’s site comes up with an example of what we can expect. [Warning: Incredibly awful singing alert. I tried to do that Rex Harrison style speak-singing thing, but…]
Can the discovery of a child’s hat in Brooklyn trigger accusations of sexism, intimidation, supression of free speech, and mass insanity? You betcha!
We end with my favourite George Orwell quote and a snatch of a famous hymn. Why not? It’s still a free world, right? Right? Hey, where did everybody go….?
