Shire Network News is the podcast of Silent Running , an Anglospheric group blog. You can contact the presenter, "Tom Paine", here.

In the Full of Crap Report this week, Laurence Simon talks about hypocrisy among Texas politicians. It’s amazing he was able to keep it under four minutes!

And Meryl Yourish, in “On Second Thought” describes the real impact of suicide bombings.

Canadian blogger Damian Penny gets accused of having double standards when it comes to Israel. He says that’s true. What else you got?

Additional material in this podcast was written by humour-blogger Rightwing Duck, from IMAO. Hey Frank J, I’m stealing all your best talent! There can be only one funny right-wing podcast! Nuke the moon all you like, victory shall be mine!

The feature interview this week is with Norman Geras, Emeritus Professor of Politics and Manchester University in the Uk, one of the people behind the Euston Manifesto and writer of Normblog. He talks about why the non-retarded Left is fighting back, tackles some of the criticism of the Manifesto group by people like Stephen Pollard, and points out large sections of the Left are making the same mistakes now that they did in the 1930s. And we all know how well that turned out.

In Blog News, vileness at Michelle Makin’s blog, as the caring, tolerant, inclusive Left vow to do unmentionable things to parts of her body. Oh, and they non-judgementally call her racist epithets. It’s different when leftists call someone a chink. That’s okay. Apparently.

Legal blogger Eugene Volokh weighs in on how a librarian reccomending a book for a student reading list somehow turned into a hate crime. The crime? The book puts forward views a couple of gay professors didn’t like. Ah. Thoughtcrime. A concept we are becoming used to these days.

In an exciting development, take a thrill-a-minute rollercoaster ride with Senator Bill Frist’s amazing hi-tech podcasting adventure! It’s just like he’s stopped boring you rigid on C-Span, and is sending you an MP3 file so he can bore you rigid on your computer or on your i-Pod as well! If he sells it as an insomnia cure, he’ll make a fortune.

Townhall.com has been bought by Christians. Will the conservative cause ever recover? No offence guys, but "Christian Rock" is a contradiction. All they do is replace "baby" with "Jesus". Apparently the purchasers, Salem Communications, want Christian conservatives to get all their information from them, raising the specture of ideological and religious gated communities on the internet. Never have to deal with anyone who thinks differently to you! It's as American as Landover Baptist Church.

On the other hand, maybe a Professor getting her students to demolish 400 crosses at an anti-abortion display might not neccessarily be the best use of tuition money. Free speech for me, but not, apparently for thee. Especially if you’re a Christian. Would the professor have destroyed Islamic symbols under any concieveable circumstances? Didn’t think so.

Shire Network News will be off the air for two weeks, on the grounds that I’m going to be taking a break on a tropical island with beaches, palm trees, and drinks with tiny umbrellas in them and no offence, but I’m NOT bringing any work with me! Oh, and, um, the island has piss-poor internet services. Connections are slow and unreliable. Yeah, that’s it. They’ll swallow that. Did I just say that out loud?
