Shire Network News is the podcast of Silent Running , an Anglospheric group blog. You can contact the presenter, "Tom Paine", here.

In the Full of Crap Report this week, Laurence Simon has a straightforward, if gruesome, solution to the problem of prison overcrowding.

And Meryl Yourish, in “On Second Thought” talks about dangerous animals, and yet fails to grasp the malevolent evil represented by the innocent-seeming Koala bear. We rip the veil away from the campaign of lies and deception which has up until now surrounded nature’s most cunningly camouflaged killer.

Canadian blogger Damian Penny last week talked about 9/11 conspiracy freaks, and although he’s not here this week, he suggested we speak to the fellows behind one of the websites debunking a particularly paranoid example of this genre, “Loose Change”. So our feature guests this week are Pat Curley and James Bennett, and their most excellent site is entitled (heh) “Screw Loose Change”.

In Blog News, it’s Bibles versus Muslim religious tracts urging the faithful to become suicide bombers? Which of these is protected by law in Australia, and which is banned. I think you already know the answer.

Ramesh Ponnuru, writing in Natioinal Review Online’s blog The Corner , has an interesting letter about attitudes towards using abortion as a tool of social engineering. “Interesting” here is used in the sense of “unbelieveably horrifying”.

Somali born Dutch MP Ayaan Hirsi Ali has been the victim of a modern day witch hunt this week, ending in her announcement that, like the anti-Nazi scientists, writers, actors and thinkers who fled fascism in the 1930s, she is coming to America.

The American Left don’t want troops sent overseas. But they don’t want them deployed on the Mexican border either. Which leaves…well, I’m not entirely sure. Kansas okay with you guys?

The Egyptian Sandmonkey has some truly disturbing video of the sensitive, respectful way his local cops treat people. The US gives Egypt two billion dollars a year. Anyone care to tell me why?

Ned Lamont, who is challenging Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman for the Democratic nomination, has received the Kos Kiss of Death, in the form of one of the most bizzare and disturbing endorsement ads in American political history. Check out the parody by Allahpundit, which barely does the original justice, and go to Tim Blair’s site for a roundup of blog reaction. Meanwhile, Lamont supporters apparently believe that if their man wins 33% to Lieberman’s 66%, that means they are crushing him! The need for remedial arithmetic training in American schools has never been better highlighted.
