This week's show is hosted by former tea boy, Doug
Payton. The feature interview this week is with journalist Bill Bishop, author of "The Big Sort: Why the Clustering of
Like-Minded America Is Tearing Us Apart". He says America is increasingly divided, not just politically, but by basic,
fundamental world views.
You can find his book at Amazon:
The Big Sort: Why the Clustering of Like-Minded America Is Tearing Us Apart .
We have blog news this week, but you'll have to listen to the show to find out what's in it!
After a long period spent doing... who knows what, Damian Penny is
back with a piece on the Canadian free speech fights.
Meryl Yourish turns in a piece this week on a wide variety of
subjects.
Tom Paine has his usual chat with Evan Sayet. You can find his blog here.
This week week's guest is Prof Barry Rubin, Director, Global Research
in International Affairs (GLORIA) Center and Editor, Middle East Review of
International Affairs (MERIA) Journal .
As we approach the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the modern state of Israel, Barry joins us to talk about his latest
reprinting of "The Israel Arab Reader". The book provides over 300 original source documents and gives a massive amount of
background into the Israeli Arab struggle.
In blog news this week we cover the news that Israel bombed a North Korean built nuclear bomb fuel plant in Syria last
September. Click if you want to see the full lyrics of Bob Dylan's Neighborhood Bully.
The summing up of the US election race if from Red State
Update. Genius. We found it via HotAir.
We also have work from Meryl Yourish, Doug Payton and Damian Penny. Be sure to follow all their blogs.

Shire Network News is, of course absolutely free. Unfortunately, explaining that to the local phone company, the electronics
store and all the others is not so easy. This iswhere you, the grateful listener can play a vital role,by hitting the tip jar
button which you can find on the right of your screen.
You can subscribe to SNN on Apple iTunes using the iTunes 1-clickbutton at the top of this post, or
download it directly from the Blogmatrix site.
If you don't have iTunes, I can recommend Podcastready.com a link to which is also in the sidebar to the right.
Our feature interview is with the author of "Culturism", John Press, who says if we don't believe we have the right to
defend our own culture, then we'll lose it. Which would be bad. For everyone.
The book is available at his website and at Amazon dot com.
In this week's show, we mark the passing of William F Buckley, discuss the UK government's much-feared new anti-jihadi
strategy of making terrorists sit on the
naughty seat, now that Kosovo is independent, how long will California remain part of the United States, and we have
excerpts from this remarkable
You Tube video of a group of students watching growing increasingly incredulous as the BBC resolutely refuses to do its job
and cover breaking news.
Meryl Yourish is along with a handy guide for perplexed US voters.
Hollywood conservative comedian, Evan Sayet, is
along to clue us in as to why people are avoiding Tinseltown's anti-war borefests.
Congratulations also to one of our regular contributors, Damian Penny, whose blog, Daimnation, has been ranked as 8th in the
list of Canada's top 25 political blogs. The "A
Dime A Dozen" blog used a combination of web traffic and Alexa ranking to work out which websites are most
influential. In first place was, naturally Mark
Steyn , and the wonderful Kate McMillan's Small Dead Animals came in at number four.
Just behind Damian Penny in tenth place is the absolutely brilliant Kathy Shaidle with Five Feet of Fury, and all of them
managed to top Canada's answer to Lionel Hutz,Warren Kinsella who limped home at number 24.
For the
second week, Mark Steyn joins Tom Paine on Shire Network News to talk about all the ways in which he is currently under
investigation. In the second part of his interview he continues where he left off discussing his prosecutions in Canada taking
in no go areas in Britain and plenty of other topics on the way.
If you don't already have his book, America Alone, may we thoroughly recommend it and that you pass some time looking at his website. You can find part one here.
You can subscribe to SNN on Apple iTunes using the iTunes 1-click button at the

In Blog News this week we look at the Archbishop of Cantebury's crazy remarks.... oh yes. Take a look at Melanie Phillips for a
complete tearing apart of what he said.
For more on the crasy left, take a look at the National Post.
Comments on the first piece of real news to come out of New Zealand in a while can be found at Tim Blair's site.
Also this week we once again hear from Evan Sayet. Super Tuesday
don't you know.
Damian Penny is wondering if Ann Coulter really is going to
campaign for Hillary.
Doug Payton is pointing out some of the lesser
known Super Tuesday facts.

We had a slight technical problem with this show. If you use iTunes, please ignore a previous version of the show, this one,
the Director's Cut, is the correct one!
We're back and this week's interview guest is California-based filmmaker, Chris Burgard, whose documentary about the
situation on the US-Mexico border is winning awards and pissing off all the right people.
His film, "Border", unleashes a haunting, inside look at what
has arguably become a war zone: Rape Trees, illegal immigration, drug smuggling, sex trafficking, Mexican military incursions
and more—all taking place at the United States' southern border. You can order the DVD here.
We also have a new regular contributor. Bona fide HOLLYWOOD comedian Evan Sayet will be bringing us a regular view from
the US as this interminable election process grinds on. You can find his own site at evansayet.com.
We're also back with Blog News. Yeahhhh.
We absoulutely had to talk about Ezra Levant's jolly good show against the Kangaroo court in Canada. Follow his progress and
watch him slay the dragon at his site: EzraLevant.com.
You can find the best up to the minute coverage of Israel at Israellycool Dave's site and the fictional statement I quote came from this post: Liveblogging the Latest - Thursday January 17th
Mellanie Phillips mentions Hillary in her blog at the Spectator site: Hillary's gender
bender.
This week Meryl Yourish is talking about Sderot.
Damian Penny is covering the left's response to Ezra Levant.
The final quote from Winston Churchill can be found in his book, The Gathering Storm. In his conclusion to a paper
describing the necessity of laying mines in neutral Norwegian waters to prevent Sweedish Iron ore reaching Germany during the
winter of 39/40:
The letter of the law must not in supreme emergency obstruct those who are charged with its
protection and enforcement. It would not be right or rational that the aggressor Power should gain one set of advantages by
tearing up all laws, and another set by sheltering behind the innate respect for law of its opponents. Humanity, rather than
legality must be our guide.

Episode 113 has proved unlucky. Some problems with the file have forced it to be changed. If you managed to get it via
iTunes, it would be best if you didn't listen to the first one and even deleted it. You can find the new version here.
This week sees us talking again to two free thinkers who have rejected the teachings of Muhammad and chosen another path.
Adil Zeshan and Sheila are concluding their conversation with Tom about what it is like to move away from Islam and face, at
best, disapproval and, at worst, death threats from ones own community and family.
You can find Part One
here. Adil Zeshan has also recently written an interesting article in the New English Review: Once Upon a Time in the
West (Midlands).
In Blog News this week we cover the truly astonishing tale of the Amsterdam police station, the Islamic terrorist and the
big knife. I had thought that western society put a particularly high price on the life of policemen and women so it is
astonishing that this story received no attention in the wider European press. For a blog view go to Klein Verzet: Suicide attack in
Amsterdam.
Benazir Bhutto returns to Pakistan and somebody kills 123 people while trying to get her. Surprised? No, unfortunately
neither are we. The
Belmont Club has more.
The Religion of Peace website has the numbers of Muslims
killed by Muslims during Ramadan this year.
Once again, Islam puts up big Ramadan numbers: 1,327 dead bodies
in 282 terror attacks in 20 countries during its holiest month.
Congratulations to the Religion of Peace!
The stories of talk show host Randi Rhodes either being attacked by Conservatives or falling down and meeting her new
dentist, Dr Sidewalk are all over the blogs. Have a look at LGF for example.

This week we're talking to graphic novelist, Bosch Fawstin. He speaks here to Shire Network News's
deputy-assistant under manger with responsibility for graphic novels, cartoon and illustrations, "Tom Paine" about why he's
decided to tackle the enemy head on. This interview was recorded on September 11th, at just about exactly the time the two
towers were hit. Just so you know.
You can find his website and order his previous graphic novel, "Table for One" at this website: BoschFawstin.com.
In Blog News this week we consider Israel declaring Gazza an enemy entity. My Pet Jawa is a good place to start.
Tim Blair's
blog has a good summation of the Bush declares Mandela dead nonsense.
The song, "They tried to make me go to Jihad" can be found in a few places. Here is one of them.
In my editorial piece I mention Hugh Fitzgerald. I can't recommend everything he writes more highly. You can find his
frequent blog postings at New English
Review. Some of these also show up on Jihad Watch. I especially recommend everyone to read and forward to all they know the
following article: Stop the
Jizyah.
We have contributions from regulars Damian Penny and Doug Payton. Be sure to visit their blogs.
BTW we're saving up so we can pay for a full page add in the New York Times. We're not sure how much it will cost, we're
waiting for them to get back to us with a quote. Please give generously.

We speak again this week to the Libforall founder and CEO, Holland
Taylor, and asked him if moderate Muslims aren't laying themselves open to charges of collaborating with Western infidels if
they work with his group.
You may have read about a conference on the Indonesian island of Bali, at which a Czech Holocaust survivor gave a moving
address to a multi-faith conference, attended by many Muslim leaders.
It was designed at act as a counterweight to the recent Iranian Conference which maintained that A) the Holocaust didn't
happen, B) it did happen but it was nowhere near as bad as those pesky Jews keep saying, and C) it did happen but Hitler
didn't do a thorough enough job so now the Muslims have to finish it for him.
But at the conference, held on the mainly Hindu island of Bali, Indonesia's former president, Abdurrahman Wahid, also known
as Gus Dur, denounced Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for branding the Holocaust a myth. The meeting was organised
by the Libforall Foundation.
In Blog News this week we look at how the Australian Navy dealt a little differently with Iranian capture attempts compared
to the Royal Navy. More details can be found at Little Green Footballs.
Tim Blair has more on the
BBC's internal report and on how it tried to solicit information that might, in the hands of an enemy lead to the death of
British or American soldiers. My license fee is truly being put to good use there.
I have to admit that it's Tom finding some of our weird Fatwas of the week so it's him you have to blame for a link to this
website: Islamicity. Go there for more details on exactly how many times you have to wash your hands after touching
a dog owner.
For the BBC article behind the reasons why Salman Rushdie was knighted, look here.
Meryl Yourish is telling us about
Kurt Waldheim.
This week Damian Penny can't stay away from Jimmy Carter. He refers to the following post from Michael Totten and a Jerusalem Post article about
Carter.

This week we don't have a feature interview as President George Bush didn't return our calls. We wanted to
ask him what he thought about the Dhimmification of Europe and the US. But I guess we'll just have to wait. Instead Tom Paine
talks about the 1940s Noel Coward/David Lean movie 'In Which We Serve'.
In BlogNews this week we go first to the TimeOut Magazine article "Is London's Future Islamic?". Iowahawk managed to find a first draft
of this piece entitled "London's Swinging like a Scimitar" but frankly the original is a parody of itself.
This week's weird Fatwa can be found at Little Green Footballs. Read it and weep. The Guardian's piece about Tony Blair is here: Blair launches fund to improve
teaching of Islam.
The Terror Finance blog has the piece about Tariq Ramadan assaulting people in
France.
This week Damian goes after Che Guevara and mentions the following post from Mucracked!. Damian's Blog
can be found here.
Meryl is on fine form and talking about Ahamdinejad and Israel.

Shire Network News is back after a two-week hiatus, raring to go and firing on all cylinders. "Tom Paine" in Melbourne sits
in for Brian of London at the anchor desk, due to a family bereavement. Brian should be back next week.
The feature interview this week is with filmmaker Evan Coyne Maloney, whose documentary, "Indoctrinate U" , examines the extent of political bias in American higher education.
We have a commentary from Laurence Simon on the death of Jerry Falwell (he's not a big fan), Doug Payton tells us which Palestinian mouse is
the leader of the gang that slays for you and me, and controversial commentator Tomer Israeli congratulates Serbia and
utterly ruins a minutes silence for the Nakba. Splendid.
In Blog News, Senator Hillary Clinton, she of the changing political positions, hairstyles and even
accents, appeals to visitors to he website to vote on what her campaign song should be. The temptation proves too
overwhelming for Tom.
The Palestinian civil war continues in the
Gaza Strip. Meh.
The World Wide Fund for Nature says the
planet has five years left to avert climate
change catastrophe. Once again, meh.
John Bolton is interviewed about Iraq on the BBC.
The results are...as you might expect. They may have the blood hosed off the walls by the end of the weekend, but those
carpets are going to have to be replaced entirely.

not fully inflated. Oh the humanity!

There's been an absence of support from conservative/right-wing bloggers and podcasters out there for Shire Network
News, with most of them engaging in the usual mutual-admiration society circle-jerk around a certain falling star of a hub
site named after bedwear.
It's time to fight for survival.
Y'all know how much to promote stuff, but I'm ready to flood the zone of IMs, emails, Twitter, Jaiku, Digg, and other
networks to get this son of a bitch out there in the open.
And y'all need to be a part of that, or this thing is going to be the best damn podcast nobody's ever heard, and it's
going to ultimately podfade from lack of support.

Bosstones!
Survival is at stake. Greatness and glory, or an untimely and unjust demise.

Er...well, quite. So go and do what he says, okay? You don't want Lair coming after you, trust me. SNN is the premier
center-right political podcast in the English speaking world, we've been around for two years now, but the big bloggers seem
to to realise we exist. Help us change their minds, okay?

This week "Tom Paine" remains at the anchor desk, as Brian of London's new baby seems to be taking up a surprising amount of time and energy from two grown adults, especially for such a small package.
The feature interview is with Professor Raphael Israeli, of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, who caused a ruckus in Australia when he suggested Muslim immigration be capped. He gets a chance to explain himself at some length on SNN.

In this week's blog news, Senator Hillary Clinton blacks up, goes down on one knee and belts out a rousing chorus of "Mammy". Next week she's expected to issue a press release insisting that Barak Obama not throw her in the briar patch.
An Iranian Revolutionary Guard General with half the secrets of the Mullahs in his head has managed to defect and is currently helping teams of mysterious men from the Department of Certain Things, with bulges under their arms and wires in their ears with their inquiries. Approved, proceed, action this day.

SNN senior Canadian Affairs correspondent Damian Penny has some kind words for a BBC program about 9/11 denial. Believe it or not!
Meryl Yourish scores another exclusive interview, this time with the Emeritus Professor of Advanced Studies at Princeton, and visiting scholar-in-residence at Oxford University's Department of Extreme Cleverness, Pamela Anderson. Turns out the crazy lady thought Ugg boots were made from, I don't know, Uggs, or something. Every time I read anything Pamela Anderson says, I can feel my brain cells dying.
Laurence Simon, SNN chief Texas field correspondent, reports in from an imaginary world about how John Edwards got his virtual campaign HQ in Second Life vandalised. Jeez, the guy even gets beat up in imaginary worlds! Needless to say evil Rethuglicans are being held responsible, although there's no evidence to support that. Conservatives are just evil man, everyone knows that.

I and a Vietnam vet friend of mine have launched a new site, AppealForCourage.org which allows active duty military to (legally) tell Congress and the media that they should support our mission, and that their criticism does hurt our morale while emboldening our enemies.
This site is partly in response to the far left site AppealForRedress. You may have heard of it, it was created by a big money group and presented by the media as a grass-roots anti-military uprising. We don't have any money for advertising, and I don't expect the media to help.

Shire Network News is, of course absolutely free. Unfortunately, explaining that to the local phone company, the electronics store and all the others is not so easy. This is where you, the grateful listener can play a vital role, by hitting the tip jar!

HotAir.
Now am I a bad person for linking to a picture of a lingerie clad model? Will this offend our audience? I doubt it. The
story is here.

I kick of Blog News by reviewing our performance at the Blog Awards where we came in 5th. Extracts from the Slate Daily Podcast and Open Source Sex. Time Magazine really has flipped out: I rather like Robert Spencer's take on their nonsense award over at JihadWatch.
Judith at Keshertalk gives us the 2006 take on how to deal with the Ku Klux Klan.
The Ynet story about the Israeli Supreme Court can be found here.
Meryl Yourish will be back in the new year.
Damian Penny is talking about Dictators.
Laurence Simon is talking the denial of Muhammad conference in Tel Aviv.
This week's closing quote is once again by Winston Churchill. This time it is from a document found in the library of FDR. You can find it here.
At this moment when the New Year opens in storm, I feel it my duty on behalf of the British Government and indeed the whole British Empire to tell you, Mr. President, how lively is our sense of gratitude and admiration for the memorable declaration which you made to the American people and to the lovers of Freedom in all continents on Sunday last.
