This week's show is hosted by former tea boy, Doug
Payton. The feature interview this week is with journalist Bill Bishop, author of "The Big Sort: Why the Clustering of
Like-Minded America Is Tearing Us Apart". He says America is increasingly divided, not just politically, but by basic,
fundamental world views.
You can find his book at Amazon:
The Big Sort: Why the Clustering of Like-Minded America Is Tearing Us Apart .
We have blog news this week, but you'll have to listen to the show to find out what's in it!
After a long period spent doing... who knows what, Damian Penny is
back with a piece on the Canadian free speech fights.
Meryl Yourish turns in a piece this week on a wide variety of
subjects.
Tom Paine has his usual chat with Evan Sayet. You can find his blog here.
Every now and then, someone in the Left takes a long look around and realises that there might be something in the state
of their movement. Latest in this distinguished line is Martin Bright the political editor with the left-leaning New
Statesman magazine.
When Israel marked it's 60th anniversary recently, he decided to marek the occasion by publishing an article questioning the
Left's increasingly hysterical assaults on the country, which have escalated from criticism of individual policies to an
outright questioning of it's very legitimacy and existence.
The article was called "The Great Betrayal".
As regular listeners to Shire Network News will probably have guessed by listening to our previous chats with another UK
left wing journalist Nick Cohen, who also raised these issues, Martin Bright found that the sky fell on him.
In blog news this week we take a look at a video that LGF linked to guessing what today's
media might have said about the D-Day landings.
Are you in fact, not ready to be A Good Democrat and just pull the lever for Obama. There are some signs, as listed in the
website "Don't Be a Good Democrat".
George Galloway supports Obama for president. What a surprise. Thank you Memri for bringing us more from this odious cretin.
EU allows privacy invasion of Americans. Another shock I know.
Doug Payton has sent in something this week
about a lawless city. Can you guess where?
Shire Network News is hosted from Australia this week by our Senior Managing Editor in charge of calming enraged listeners,
"Tom Paine". He does not drop the F-bomb once. Not even a bleep. Not after the reaction we got to last week's, ah,
change of pace.
The feature interview this week is with French media analyst Philippe Karsenty, a long-term critic of France 2, the TV
channel that broadcast the famous footage of Mohammed Al-Durah, the 10 year old Palestinian shot allegedly shot dead in his
father's arms by Israeli soldiers. Not only does Philippe say it was a hoax, he now has a court ruling backing him up. But he
needs help to get this message past an entrenched state controlled media. If you can offer him any support, he asks that you
contact him at this e-mail address: pk@m-r.fr
In Blog News this week, the Worst US President Ever (and you know which peanut farmer we mean) casually endangers the
security of a democratic western nation by detailing exactly how many atomic bombs it has, so we respond with some
destabilisation and panic-mongering of our own. Take that malaise-boy, two can play at THAT game.
We take a look at the savage pressure British schoolchildren are under thanks to the fiercely competitive exam system,
Which on current trends will be asking tricky questions like "What colour is red" and "What is your name?" soon. Possibly
with an option to phone a friend as well, but that's going to be in the next education White Paper.
Algeria has charged a woman with becoming a Christian. You know, although it's now routine to see medieval gibberish
like this, we really ought to still be shocked.
And as always, the wacky antics of those wild and crazy guys at the United Nations brings a smile to the lips, a rueful
shake of the head, and the loading of a fresh clip into the M16. This week, there's a terrible cyclone in Burma, and the UN
sends a mystery parcel of aid. Watch the faces of the Burmese when they open it and find what's inside! Hi-jinks ensue.
Followed by much suffering and death, but the UN is probably getting used to that by now.
Meryl Yourish has been watching the Eurovision Song Contest, so
you don't have to. Her subsequent therapy bills will be sent to the EU headquarters in Brussels. It seems only fair.
Doug Payton has been watching the global
temperature creep downwards and Arctic ice thicken thanks to...er...global warming. Maybe it's because Al Gore has
been unusually quiet of late.
And Hollywood satirist and political activist Evan
Sayet discusses the possibility that if Obama loses, we're in for a re-run of the worst parts of the 60s, including the
emergence of a new domestic terror movement along the lines of the Weather Underground. Whose main achievement was to get
three of their members blown up, but we couldn't be that lucky again, could we? Pre-order Evan's book here, if you want to avoid the hideous possibility of a Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young reunion.
This week's guest is Patti Patton-Bader, founder of Soldiers
Angels, which organises a surprisingly vast array of methods by which you, the ordinary civillian at home, can show real
support for the troops.
Whether it be by sending care packages, baked goods, blankets and cards, providng practical assistance for soldiers
families, assisting chaplains with their work, or even organising voice-activated laptop computers for wounded soldiers,
Soldiers Angels can help you to help the troops.
Go visit www.soldiersangels.org. You will also find news there
of the Mom of the Year award that Patti received on Mother's day in the US.
In Blog News this week we talk about Sheik Ali Al-Faqir's appearance on Al Aqsa TV as reported by Memri. Apparently main stream opinion in Islam is that the whole
world should be conquered by Jihad. What a surprise.
Obama thinks there are 58 states in the US. It's all over the blogs.
For video of Jeremy Bowen under fire (and not by Israel either) you can look at the BBC site.
This week we have a contribution from Doug
Payton. He's terribly worried by the changes in the weight of the standard Kilogram.
We have our regular chat with Evan Sayet and
you can pre-order his new book on Amazon.
This week week's guest is Prof Barry Rubin, Director, Global Research
in International Affairs (GLORIA) Center and Editor, Middle East Review of
International Affairs (MERIA) Journal .
As we approach the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the modern state of Israel, Barry joins us to talk about his latest
reprinting of "The Israel Arab Reader". The book provides over 300 original source documents and gives a massive amount of
background into the Israeli Arab struggle.
In blog news this week we cover the news that Israel bombed a North Korean built nuclear bomb fuel plant in Syria last
September. Click if you want to see the full lyrics of Bob Dylan's Neighborhood Bully.
The summing up of the US election race if from Red State
Update. Genius. We found it via HotAir.
We also have work from Meryl Yourish, Doug Payton and Damian Penny. Be sure to follow all their blogs.

This week we have a deep and meaningful discussion that ranges across the political spectrum. Douglas Murray and Nick
Cohenjoin Tom Paine to disucuss the failures on both Left and Right to come to terms with a Jihadi threat.
On the Right we have Douglas Murray, the director of the think tank, Centre
forSocial Cohesion and the author of "Neo-Conservatism:Why
We Need It".
From the Left, broadly speaking, as he's not on good terms with most of his former comrades just at present, is
Britishjournalist Nick Cohen, author of "What's Left: How Liberals Lost their Way".
This is the first of a two part disucssion and should not be missed. They explore the failing of the left and of parts ofthe
right to come to terms with the real enemy everyone is facing
In blog news this week we look at the case of the 8 men accused of trying to blow aeroplanes out of the sky. Naughty, naughty
if you jumped to the conclusion that this might involve Islam.
We are also looking in to the sex scandal involving Max Mosley. You can do your own google search for the sex tape. Youdon't
need my help.

Our guest this week is British Member of Parliament for Wells, David Heathcote-Amery. He is talking to Tom Paine about
theprecarious state of democracy in Europe with a new European constitution (in all but name) being rammed down the throats of
anunwilling populace. In the first of a two part interview he covers his feelings for Europe and what he would form he would
liketo see European co-operation take.
Brian of London is back hosting the show this week. In blog news we cover the Church in North Carolina that doesn't thinkits
right to teach crucification and resurrection to kids as part of the Easter story. More details here.
It's hard not to laugh at a story when police are called in to investigate the alleged racism of a stuffed animal.A
hate crime for a stuffed toy, yeah.
In Melbourne a "priest" thinks that Easter shouldn't be a public holiday. I say "priest" but really....

This week's feature interview is with former Green Beret Lt Col
Gordon Cucullu, who says there's a growing cultural rift between
the US military and civillian society, which is endangering preparedness to face unexpected challenges, such as the
Venezuela/Colombia War of 2008.
What's that? You hadn't heard about that potential regional conflict which might drag the US in? Precisely the Colonel's
point.
We look at how new technology is enabling private citizens to have their own radio programs on the internet, publish their
own books, launch their own ballistic missiles...wait, back up a bit, what was that? It seems one Israeli who has found himself
in range of surface to surface missiles from Gaza felt his government's response was too feeble, and decided to start his own
artillery offensive.
Don't think it can't happen to you, some moron set off an IED in Times Square this week.
The UK continues it's rapid slide into cultural surrender by ordering RAF personnell near Peterborough to not wear their
uniforms off the base. It seems some civillians had been abusing servicemen and women in uniform. The Archbishop of Canterbury
doesn't seem to be involved in this story yet, but surely it's only a matter of time...
Barak Obama supporter and Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.I.Am has released
another video extolling the virtues of his candidate's
political platform. It seems to involve assorted showbiz folk chanting "Obama" and claiming the world will be made better in
some undescribed yet undisputable fashion. As the Internet is open to everyone, someone has responded with another video which points out some of the messianic
tendencies inherent in the Obama campaign.
UK Culture Minister Margaret Hodge has discovered that British people are having fun singing patriotic songs at the Last
Night of the Proms. Needless to say, she'd like to put a stop to it.
We also hear from Doug Payton who translates what Barak Obama is saying about defence, and Hollywood comedian and
conservative activist Evan Sayet says Hillary is in it
to win it, and the Democratic civil war will last right up to the convention. Mmmm, fighty Dems...Chicago '68...tear gas,
Yippies...great days.

Ezra Levant is our guest this week. Ezra is the former publisher of Canada's Western Standard newspaper, who was famously
hauled up in front of some sort of bogus Province of Alberta Kangaroo Court for a variety of thought crimes.
Show Exclusive: Shirlene McGovern, tormentor of Ezra, has asked to resign from his case!
He fought back by arguing against the entire process, and posting a video of his encounter with the interrogator on You
Tube. You can find all his videos and much more on his own website ezralevant.com.
New Visitors from HotAir, welcome! Don't feel you have to jump to the interview, stick around and listen to the rest of
the show. We also have part two comming up next week.

Just wanted to say I was turned onto your podcast from Hotair today (relating to that whole thing with the canadian
thought pollice). Really fun show you have going. You got a new subscriber today.
This was the first of another 2 part interview and we'll continue next week.
In blog news this week we travel back a few hundred years to the time of Chaucer with "Here Bigynneth the Tale of the Asse-Htte.
An Archbishop of Canterbury Tale" borrowed from the satirist (oh how unworthy are we of that title) Iowahawk.
The news that there are witches in Saudia Arabia is not a surprise. I wish it were even a surprise that they plan to behead
one, but alas it is not
so.
You can find the amazing story of the Mosque, so enlightened that they are considering letting in a dog here at Europenews.
The magnificent Lord's

More on China and the Olympics can be found in the Daily Mail.
We also have our regular chat with Evan Sayet. You can find more of his work at his own site evansayet.com.
Doug Payton is talking about the death of
Nahoul the Bee and his replacement by a rabbit. You can also find my posts on Israellycool about that here and here. Dave's post on the modes of
death for the rabbit is: Different ways to skin a rabbit.
Former SNN contributor, Andrew Ian Dodge's website can be found here.

For the
second week, Mark Steyn joins Tom Paine on Shire Network News to talk about all the ways in which he is currently under
investigation. In the second part of his interview he continues where he left off discussing his prosecutions in Canada taking
in no go areas in Britain and plenty of other topics on the way.
If you don't already have his book, America Alone, may we thoroughly recommend it and that you pass some time looking at his website. You can find part one here.

complete tearing apart of what he said.
For more on the crasy left, take a look at the National Post.
Comments on the first piece of real news to come out of New Zealand in a while can be found at Tim Blair's site.
Also this week we once again hear from Evan Sayet. Super Tuesday
don't you know.
Damian Penny is wondering if Ann Coulter really is going to
campaign for Hillary.
Doug Payton is pointing out some of the lesser
known Super Tuesday facts.

Jonah Goldberg is the guest on Shire Network News this week. His new book, Liberal Fascism, is causing a bit of a stir among
liberals who don't understand. Just don't understand is how that sentence was meant to end. There is a whole blog about the
books reception set up at the National Review.
You can buy his book from Amazon.com via the following link:
Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left, From Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning .
This week's guest writer on Blog News is Right Wing Duck. You can sometimes find him on IMAO. Let us know what you think.
Also this week we once again hear from Evan Sayet who's got Bill and
Hilary in his sights again.
Meryl Yourish is giving her liberal perspective on Fascism.
Doug Payton is considering what sort of
culture bans ever reference to pigs. And Cowboy builders. You can find background here.
This week's Winston Churchill quote is from The Gathering Storm:
Fascism was the shadow or ugly child of Communism... As Fascism sprang from Communism, so Nazism developed from
Fascism. Thus were set on foot those kindred movements which were destined soon to plunge the world into even more hideous
strife, which none can say has ended with their destruction.

This week's show features an extended piece by Tom Paine on his thoughts of London and a three way chat between Meryl,
Damian and Brian of London.
We've not really got Blog News this week so not much to link to. I do mention a new Egyption Coptic site, www.sonsofapesandpigs.org and we have a song at the end of a show that has a rather good video. Go and look at it: The Nose on your
Face.
Tom used some spoof tube announcements from Emma Clarke. Go to her site to hear more and
check out her hilarious spoof sat nav voice overs.
We will try our very best to be more regular next year. Honest.
You can find Meryl's blog here and Damian Penny posts here.
In the meantime thank you all for listening and for commenting and supporting us all year. We do it all for you and believe
me, this is not a simple undertaking. I'm not complaining though, one comment saying we've opened someone's eyes is enough to
cheer us all up for a week.

This week we talk to two free-thinkers. One is from the UK and the other from the USA and both are trying hard not to be
defined by the religion they were born into and have subsequently rejected. Shire Network News senior religious affairs
correspondent Tom Paine speaks to two ex-Muslims - Sheila (not her real name for reasons which are probably obviuous) who lives
in the United States, and Adil Zeshan from the United Kingdom. They talk about why they left, and why the fear the
reaction from their former compatriots.
This week we also talk about the Spectator sponsored debate: We should not be reluctant to assert the superiority of Western
values. You can find full details an a link to a recording at the Spectator's website.
The blogs are alive with stuff about Al Gore's Nobel Peace Prize. Hitting Metal With Hammer is just one link to look at.
The Egyptian Sandmonkey has a post looking at a Pharonic Temple buried under a Mosque. What a surprise: Pharaonic Temple found inside Luxor
Mosque
Ann Coulter is an Idot. It's just true. See every blog for more details.
Doug
Payton is ripping into socialists.

The show this week is anchored from Melbourne rather than London, in yet another sign that those uppity colonials think
they're just as good as the Mother Country. Hmph!
"Brian of London" has the week off to do something nefarious, which he will tell us all about in due course. In the
meantime, Shire Network News senior French judicial correspondent "Tom Paine" speaks to blogger and
media analyst
Richard Landes, about the latest developments in the Mohammed Al-Durrah case.
The photograph and film of a Palestinian boy apparently being shot dead in his father's arms by Israeli troops was used to
fan the flames of hatred around the world, but was it real or staged? Why won't the French TV channel release the raw footage?
Listen to Richard Landes and find out why this is such a critical test of media accountability.
In Blog News, we find ourselves sceptical about the message on the side of a London double-decker bus; cynical
about the reasons why Iran's president insists there are no homosexuals in his country, at least not after treatment
like this; and just plain depressed at the United Nations
deciding to offer the repressed Burmese people all assistance short of actual help.
For blogger coverage of the major non-humorous events currently underway in Burma go here.
Remember the last Star Trek series, "Enterprise" with it's Temporal Cold War, in which history itself was a battlefield to
be altered at will by the competing factions? Bad news, it's actually happening in Britain. Turns out you don't need a time machine to change the past. Just a
publisher and a large, Orwellian-sounding government bureacracy.
Meryl Yourish
is here to take a look at Feminism's impact in the Muslim world, as is Doug Payton, who enthusiastically agrees with Presedential
candidate John Edwards, al least in his self-assesment that he (John Edwards) is not God.

This week we're talking to graphic novelist, Bosch Fawstin. He speaks here to Shire Network News's
deputy-assistant under manger with responsibility for graphic novels, cartoon and illustrations, "Tom Paine" about why he's
decided to tackle the enemy head on. This interview was recorded on September 11th, at just about exactly the time the two
towers were hit. Just so you know.
You can find his website and order his previous graphic novel, "Table for One" at this website: BoschFawstin.com.
In Blog News this week we consider Israel declaring Gazza an enemy entity. My Pet Jawa is a good place to start.
Tim Blair's
blog has a good summation of the Bush declares Mandela dead nonsense.
The song, "They tried to make me go to Jihad" can be found in a few places. Here is one of them.
In my editorial piece I mention Hugh Fitzgerald. I can't recommend everything he writes more highly. You can find his
frequent blog postings at New English
Review. Some of these also show up on Jihad Watch. I especially recommend everyone to read and forward to all they know the
following article: Stop the
Jizyah.

BTW we're saving up so we can pay for a full page add in the New York Times. We're not sure how much it will cost, we're

It's our 100th episode, and we celebrate with a special behind-the-scenes look at some of the people who put Shire Network
News together - our host, Brian of London, ace interviewer Tom Paine from Melbourne, and long-term contributor Meryl Yourish from
Richmond, Virginia.
Doug Payton adds his personal
congratulations, and Laurence Simon asks us to think about Ed Murrow's comments about television, and apply them to today.
There's a shortened blog news segment because of the three-way conference, including a plea for UK citizens who are forced
by law to pay the BBC an annual ransom so a bunch of Guardian-reading Oxbridge creeps can spend your money to destroy
everything you value, to take a very special BBC survey, which might, we are told, do some actual good.
It's all to do with the way certain comments on a BBC website are handled. Read about the issue here.
In entirely unrelated news, special thanks go to agent "Nighthawk", in the Grey Lubyanka. The package has arrived. Stand
by for further instructions.
On the 99th edition of Shire Network News we interview the author and commentator, Douglas Murray. We spoke to Douglas back
on episode 77. Since then
he's founded the Center for Social Cohesion. He's leading the
next charge to defeat the British Government when a bill to outlaw the criticism of religious ideas is brought back to the
House.
Meryl's excellent blog had more on the Hamas story about
Violins.
The story about the
Australian parliament being too Christian is too much to believe. Read about it in the Australian.
National Review has the
article by Mark Steyn with the title I mention in Blog News.

Shire Network News is, of course absolutely free. Unfortunately, explaining that to the local phone company, the electronics
store and all the others is not so easy. This is where you, the grateful listener can play a vital role, by hitting the tip jar
button which you can find on the right of your screen

We're BACK! Oh Yes.
This week we have part 2 of our interview with Deborah Lipstadt. You can find part 1 here. You can find her book on the
case here: History on Trial: My Day in Court with David Irving and her blog is to be found at lipstadt.blogspot.com.
Our weird fatwa of the week can be found on LGF. It's sick stuff.
The stories about animals in Iran are a bit old... but I'm sure you can find something interesting by googling squirrels in
Iran.
The nonsense at the Daily Kos can be found described at LGF because you
don't want to visit Daily Kos. Really.
Dictator Chavez denies he is a dictator. Read all
about it.

I'm trying to organise a TalkShoe open
discussion for this Saturday at the following times. You'll need to visit TalkShoe and sign up for an account and download
their software. The idea is that you either use their (beta) software called ShoePhone or you call a number in the US by
telephone and sign in with a pin number.
I will post more details nearer the time. I do hope someone shows up. Tom will be online as will I!
