Podcast looks at the second draft of the Al-Durrah film

The show this week is anchored from Melbourne rather than London, in yet another sign that those uppity colonials think they're just as good as the Mother Country. Hmph!

"Brian of London" has the week off to do something nefarious, which he will tell us all about in due course. In the meantime, Shire Network News senior French judicial correspondent "Tom Paine" speaks to blogger and media analyst Richard Landes, about the latest developments in the Mohammed Al-Durrah case.

The photograph and film of a Palestinian boy apparently being shot dead in his father's arms by Israeli troops was used to fan the flames of hatred around the world, but was it real or staged? Why won't the French TV channel release the raw footage? Listen to Richard Landes and find out why this is such a critical test of media accountability.

In Blog News, we find ourselves sceptical about the message on the side of a London double-decker bus; cynical about the reasons why Iran's president insists there are no homosexuals in his country, at least not after treatment like this; and just plain depressed at the United Nations deciding to offer the repressed Burmese people all assistance short of actual help.

For blogger coverage of the major non-humorous events currently underway in Burma go here.

Remember the last Star Trek series, "Enterprise" with it's Temporal Cold War, in which history itself was a battlefield to be altered at will by the competing factions? Bad news, it's actually happening in Britain. Turns out you don't need a time machine to change the past. Just a publisher and a large, Orwellian-sounding government bureacracy.

Meryl Yourish is here to take a look at Feminism's impact in the Muslim world, as is Doug Payton, who enthusiastically agrees with Presedential candidate John Edwards, al least in his self-assesment that he (John Edwards) is not God.

SNN Grande Fromage, "Tom Paine" follows up on his earlier chat with Richard Landes. You can hear the earlier episode here. This time the early optimism has worn off as French justice delivers a verdict that defies belief.

Richard is responsible for the video works Al Durah and Pallywood and it was he who coined the term Pallywood. These videos can be found at The Second Draft and I would encourage all to watch both films in full. Richard's own writing can be found at his blog, The Augean Stables including his further reflections on the France 2 trial in Paris.

Tom uses music from two films: Maurice Jarre theme to the movie "Is Paris Burning?" and also clips from "Battle of Algeirs".

In blog news this week I start off with the news that the steady minds at the Anti-Defamation League have discerned that this weekend the Jewish people stand on the precipice of a new pogrom. You can find out why Borat is being targeted at Frontpage.

The latest nonsense to come out of Ken Livingstone can be found at DhimmiWatch.

You can see just some of the coverage that French Jihad violence against the state at Little Green Footballs.

Meryl Yourish has sent in what could be her last piece for Shire Network News. Well see. She's mad at us for running an attack add against her write in candidacy for the Senate seat in Virginia.

Damian Penny is talking about the BBC drama, Spooks.

Laurence Simon is blasting out another full of crap report about bus bombings in France. He would also like it if you took a look at his 100 word story on Podcast Pickle.

This weeks final quote is, of course, from Winston Churchill.

More details of the trial can be read in Nidra Poller's accounts at Politics Central here and here.

In blog news I talk about the passing of Oriana Fallaci. Robert Spencer's remarks can be found here.

Obviously the Pope had to get a mention. I borrowed a piece from Jim Treacher which you can find on his site. Believe it or not, I toned it down. I'm fully behind the Pope on this one. No criticism of Catholicism will come from me while Islam is out there.

Meryl Yourish also talks about the Pope and of course there is an Israel angle to it. Laurence Simon is wondering what it would be like if there were no illegal immigrants depressing wages.
